SDI to VGA-S Overview
VGA monitors and projectors are still common in control rooms, classrooms and industrial sites, but the video arriving there is often SDI. The Yuan SDI to VGA-S is a broadcast video converter that scales an SDI feed to the native resolution of a VGA display while passing the SDI signal on.
Input is one SDI connection accepting 3G-SDI at 1080p 60/50, HD-SDI at 1080p 30/25/24, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i. Outputs are one D-Sub VGA connection and two SDI loop-throughs. VGA output is configurable in VESA formats from 640×480 to 1920×1080, with input and output formats set independently. SDI embedded audio of up to 16 channels, 24-bit, 48 kHz is available on the SDI loop outputs.
The SDI to VGA-S is set up with buttons and an OSD menu and runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. For HDMI displays, the SDI to HDMI-S offers the same scaling and dual loop with an HDMI output. If the display takes DVI or analogue video, the SDI/HDMI to Multi outputs DVI-I, component, S-Video and composite.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this converter, so plan for indoor use.
