Arestech SM-115(P)(R)W/VM-2100 15.6" 1,600 Nit Widescreen Sunlight Readable Monitors with Front IP65 Bezel

A typical industrial display at 250 to 300 nits washes out once daylight reaches it, and at 15.6 inch the screen is often the main operator interface on the kiosks it is fitted to. The Arestech SM-115(P)(R)W/VM-2100 series is built for that: a family of 15.6 inch sunlight readable monitors with a 1,600 nit 16:9 widescreen LCD, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 170° viewing angles horizontally and vertically, so the screen stays legible from where the operator actually stands.

Each monitor is built in two parts. The display module carries the LCD in an aluminium die-cast front frame with a flat surface, IP65 compliant at the front panel, and Arestech’s VM-2100 video module mounts on the rear with the connections: VGA, DVI and DisplayPort inputs, USB 2.0 and COM ports, a line-in feeding two 2 W internal speakers, a two-pin terminal block for remote power on/off and a remote OSD connector for a separate keypad. The 15.6″ monitor measures 393 x 254 x 67.5 mm and weighs 4.65 kg, and ships with a panel mount kit for a 386 x 247 mm cut-out, 100 x 100 mm VESA holes and an optional wall mount.

The SM-115(P)(R)W/VM-2100 series splits on touch. The SM-115W/VM-2100 is the non-touch build, a sunlight readable LCD for camera views, dashboards and status screens that are read rather than pressed. The SM-115PW/VM-2100 adds a projected capacitive touch screen for bare-finger operation of HMI and kiosk software, and the SM-115RW/VM-2100 uses a 5-wire resistive touch screen that registers gloved fingers and a stylus.

Power comes in on a three-pin terminal block at 9 to 48 V DC, which covers 12 V and 24 V vehicle systems as well as cabinet supplies, and ignition sensing with a PC/Car mode switch lets the monitor follow a vehicle’s key. Protection covers over-voltage to 52 V, reverse voltage to -48 V and over-current to 20 A, and an optional 12 V, 90 W adapter handles mains-powered sites. The series operates from -10 °C to 60 °C at 10 to 80% humidity and is rated for 20 Grms shock and 1.5 Grms vibration from 5 to 500 Hz, which suits kiosks, cab consoles and machine HMIs running widescreen software.
