Avalue EMX-EHLP-J6412-A1R Intel Celeron J6412 Thin Mini-ITX SBC with 12 to 24 V DC Input and Quad 2.5GbE

An industrial gateway or a small firewall appliance typically has to sit between several networks at once: the plant LAN, a machine segment, a camera network and a remote-access uplink. The EMX-EHLP-J6412-A1R is the four-port Celeron J6412 build in the Avalue EMX-EHLP series of Thin Mini-ITX SBCs, with four 2.5GbE ports on a 170 x 170 mm board.

The Intel Celeron J6412 is a quad-core Elkhart Lake processor with a 10 W TDP, which suits routing, packet filtering, Modbus or OPC UA conversion and data logging. One DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM slot takes up to 32 GB. Intel UHD Graphics drives HDMI 2.0b at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, a DP++ output and an internal dual-channel LVDS connector, with up to three independent displays when the gateway also needs a local screen.

All four 2.5GbE ports use Intel I226LM controllers on RJ45. Two rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and four USB 2.0 headers handle peripherals and dongles. Six COM headers, two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232, plus 16-bit DIO connect PLCs, energy meters and relays. An M.2 B-key takes a SATA SSD or a 4G module with its SIM slot for remote backhaul, an M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, and two SATA ports add drives.

The EMX-EHLP-J6412-A1R runs from 12 to 24 V DC on a lockable barrel jack or a 4-pin connector, operates from 0 to 60 °C with 0.5 m/s airflow and carries CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. If two networks are enough, the EMX-EHLP-J12-A1-1R uses the same processor with two 2.5GbE ports, and for an unheated cabinet the EMX-EHLP-X25RE-A1R adds in-band ECC and -20 to 60 °C operation.
