DFI ADN171-CB-x7213E Intel Atom x7213E Mini-ITX SBC with Dual 2.5GbE and Triple Display

Retrofit projects often inherit a VGA monitor that nobody wants to replace, alongside newer 4K displays on the same kiosk or operator station. The ADN171-CB-x7213E handles both: it is the Atom-based Mini-ITX SBC in the DFI ADN171 family, with VGA, DisplayPort and a USB-C display output on the rear panel.

The Intel Atom x7213E is an Alder Lake-N processor with two cores at up to 3.2 GHz and a 10 W TDP. Intel UHD Graphics drive up to three displays and decode HEVC, VP9, AV1 and AVC in hardware, which keeps video playback off the cores. Memory is a single DDR5 4800 MHz SO-DIMM of up to 32 GB, double the ceiling of the dual-core ADN171-CB-N50, so the ADN171-CB-x7213E can hold larger local databases or browser-based HMI sessions. If the application needs more compute, the ADN171-CB-i3-N305 offers eight cores on the same board.

Networking is two Intel I226V 2.5GbE ports. Three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports sit on the rear with four USB 2.0 on internal headers, and six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485, four RS-232) plus an 8-bit DIO cover card readers, printers and I/O modules. The M.2 B-key takes an SSD or a cellular module with its Nano SIM, the M.2 E-key a 2230 PCIe or USB wireless card, and a PCIe x4 slot at x2 Gen3 with two SATA 3.0 ports handles further expansion.

Power is 12 V DC on a barrel jack or 4-pin connector, and the ADN171-CB-x7213E runs fanless on its heatsink from -5 to 65 °C, which fits indoor kiosks and control cabinets. It carries CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS and KC compliance and runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB, Windows 11 or Linux. Where the supply rail is 24 V, the ADN173 version of the board takes a 9 to 36 V input.
