DFI ALF51-TN-26E30 Intel Atom x5-E3930 1.8″ Femto-ITX SBC with Dual GbE and Extended Temperature

Outdoor equipment that runs from a solar panel and battery has two constraints at once: a tight power budget and a temperature range that no indoor board covers. The ALF51-TN-26E30 is a 1.8″ Femto-ITX SBC in the DFI ALF51 series that answers both, with a 6.5 W dual-core Intel Atom and a -40 to 85 °C rating.

The Intel Atom x5-E3930 is a two-core Apollo Lake processor at 1.3 GHz with a 1.8 GHz burst, suited to telemetry, logging and remote access rather than heavy processing. It has 2 GB of single-channel LPDDR4 at 2400 MHz and 64 GB of eMMC soldered down. Intel HD Graphics provides a DP++ output at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz for maintenance. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux with UEFI boot, and the watchdog timer recovers the board after a software hang without a site visit.

One RS-232/422/485 header links charge controllers, weather stations or meters, and the 8-bit DIO header reads alarms and drives relays. Two GbE ports on Intel I210 controllers connect local devices and the uplink, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and a USB 2.0 header add storage, and the full-size mini PCIe socket can carry a wireless module.

The ALF51-TN-26E30 takes 12 V DC on a terminal block and cools passively across -40 to 85 °C, with CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. For more processing at the same rating, the ALF51-TN-26E40 has four cores at 9.5 W, and the ALF51-EN-26E30 keeps this processor at -20 to 70 °C where the site is less exposed.
