DFI ARS630-Q870 Intel Arrow Lake-S Core Ultra ATX Embedded Motherboard with Q870 Chipset, Dual 2.5GbE and PCIe Gen5 x16

When a test rig or an analyser reaches the end of its computer’s life, the expensive part is often the cards: a PCI instrument interface, a data acquisition card, a motion controller that the software was qualified with. The ARS630-Q870 is the Q870 build in the DFI ARS630 series of ATX industrial motherboards, and its seven slots, including one PCI slot, let those cards move to a current Intel Core Ultra 200S processor.

Eight Arrow Lake-S processors fit the LGA 1851 socket, from the Core Ultra 5 225 and 225T with 10 cores to the Core Ultra 9 285 and 285T with 24, at 65 W or 35 W for the T parts. Four DDR5 DIMMs in dual channel hold up to 256 GB at up to 5600 MHz. Integrated Intel graphics drives VGA, two DP++ and HDMI 2.0a outputs, so an existing VGA monitor can stay on the bench beside newer 4K screens.

Two PCIe x16 Gen5 slots run as x16 or x8/x8, three PCIe x4 Gen4 slots and a PCIe x4 slot wired at x1 take newer cards, and the PCI slot takes the older one. Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel controllers connect the test network and the factory system. Six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232), 4-in/8-out DIO, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four Gen 1 rear ports and internal USB headers handle instruments. Storage is an M.2 NVMe slot at PCIe Gen5 x4, a second at Gen4 x4 or SATA and four SATA 3.0 ports with RAID.

The ARS630-Q870 draws power from an ATX supply on 24-pin and 8-pin connectors and operates from -5 to 65 °C with CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS, LVD and KC compliance. Where a cell needs four network ports or ECC memory, ARS630-W880 adds both on the W880 chipset.
