DFI ASL553-TN-x7835RE Intel Atom x7835RE 3.5″ SBC with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -40 to 85 °C

Roadside cameras, vehicle recorders and rail edge gateways need several streams handled at once, often inside a cabinet that swings from frost to summer heat. The ASL553-TN-x7835RE brings eight cores to that environment. It is the top compute option in the ASL553 series, a 3.5″ SBC rated from -40 to 85 °C with three 2.5GbE ports for cameras and backhaul.

The Intel Atom x7835RE is an eight-core Amston Lake processor running from 1.3 to 3.6 GHz within a 12 W TDP. The cores suit containerised gateway software, several camera streams or analytics running alongside control logic, and Intel UHD Graphics decodes HEVC, VP9, AV1 and AVC and encodes HEVC, VP9 and AVC in hardware. One DDR5 4800 MHz SO-DIMM slot takes up to 16 GB. A discrete TPM 2.0 and a programmable watchdog support secure, unattended operation.

Three 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226IT controllers sit on the rear with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, HDMI and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode. A dual-channel LVDS connector supports a local panel for three displays in total. Inside are two USB 2.0 headers, one RS-232/422/485 port and 8-bit DIO, one SATA 3.0 port, and M.2 sockets for a PCIe or SATA SSD, a 4G or 5G modem with SIM slot and Wi-Fi.

The ASL553-TN-x7835RE runs fanless on 9 to 36 V DC through a 4-pin or barrel connector, with CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. If four cores cover the workload, the ASL553-TN-x7433RE runs at 9 W. For the lowest heat, the ASL553-TN-x7211RE drops to two cores at 6 W.
