DFI CMS310 Intel Xeon W and 10th Gen Core Micro-ATX Industrial Motherboards with W480E or Q470E Chipset

Long-running vision and test systems often need two full-length cards, a GPU and a frame grabber for example, on a board small enough for a compact tower or wall-mount enclosure. The DFI CMS310 series is a Micro-ATX industrial motherboard on a 244 x 244 mm footprint with an LGA1200 socket for 10th Gen Intel Core (Comet Lake) processors and four PCIe Gen3 slots, so the processor and the card layout can both be sized to the job.

The socket takes Core i3, i5, i7 and i9 processors in 65 W E and 35 W TE versions, from the four-core i3-10100E to the 10-core i9-10900E, and DFI rates it for processors up to 125 W TDP. Four DDR4 2933 MHz DIMM slots take up to 128 GB. Intel UHD Graphics drives three independent displays through DP++, HDMI 1.4b and VGA, with hardware encode and decode for H.264, H.265, VP8 and VP9 video, and DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, Windows 11 and Linux support.

The CMS310-W480ENRM uses the Intel W480E chipset and is the build that accepts Intel Xeon W-1200E processors, such as the W-1290E at 95 W, with ECC memory support on Xeon and Core i3 for systems that run unattended for months. The CMS310-Q470ENRM uses the Q470E chipset with non-ECC memory and adds Pentium G6400E, Celeron G5900E and Celeron G5900TE options for cost-sensitive builds. Both support Intel AMT on Core i5, i7 and i9, and the W480E build on Xeon too.

Two PCIe x16 Gen3 slots share x16 or x8/x8 signal, with two PCIe x4 Gen3 slots beside them. An M.2 M-key socket takes a PCIe x4 Gen3 NVMe or SATA SSD, four SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, and an M.2 E-key socket takes Wi-Fi. The rear panel carries two USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two GbE ports on Intel I219LM and I210AT controllers, with four GbE available by request. Internal headers add two USB 3.2 Gen 2, four USB 2.0, two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 ports, and 16-bit digital I/O.

Power comes from a standard ATX supply over 24-pin and 8-pin connectors, and the boards run from -5 to 65 °C with an active CPU cooler, which suits indoor cabinets, test racks and equipment rooms. Optional TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds support secure, unattended operation, and the CMS310 series carries CE, FCC, UKCA, UL and RoHS compliance.
