DFI CS330 Intel 8th and 9th Gen Core Micro-ATX Industrial Motherboards with H310 or Q370 Chipset and Six COM Ports

Replacing an ageing control PC is simpler when the new board takes the same PCI cards and serial cabling as the old one. The DFI CS330 series is a Micro-ATX industrial motherboard on a 244 x 244 mm footprint that pairs an LGA1151 socket for 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core processors with two PCI slots, six COM ports and 8-bit digital I/O.

The socket takes 8th Gen Core i7-8700, i5-8500 and i3-8100 in 65 W and 35 W T versions, the 9th Gen embedded Core i7-9700TE, i5-9500E, i5-9500TE, i3-9100E and i3-9100TE, plus Pentium G5400 and Celeron G4900 in standard and T versions. That runs from two cores on Pentium and Celeron to eight on the i7-9700TE, with no listed processor above 65 W. Memory is DDR4 at 2400 or 2666 MHz. Intel UHD Graphics drives VGA, DVI-D and DP++ with 4K output on the DisplayPort, with hardware encode and decode including HEVC, VP8 and VP9, and DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Linux support.

The CS330-Q370CRM uses the Intel Q370 chipset with four DIMM slots for up to 128 GB, three independent displays, a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot, a full-size Mini PCIe slot, RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, two rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and Intel AMT on Core i5 and i7. The CS330-H310C uses the H310 chipset with two DIMM slots for up to 64 GB, two displays at once, a PCIe x4 Gen2 slot and an Intel I219V controller with no AMT or vPro, for systems that need the slots and serial ports at a lower build cost.

Both boards have a PCIe x16 Gen3 slot, two PCI slots, four SATA 3.0 ports and two GbE ports on Intel I210AT and I219 controllers. One RS-232/422/485 port sits on a rear DB-9, with a second RS-232/422/485 port and four RS-232 ports on internal headers, so barcode readers, instruments and PLC links connect without a serial card. The rear panel also carries USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a PS/2 port and Realtek ALC888 audio.

Power comes from a standard ATX supply over 24-pin and 8-pin connectors, and an active CPU cooler keeps the boards within 0 to 60 °C, which suits indoor control cabinets, test racks and kiosks. A watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds or minutes supports unattended operation, and the CS330 series carries UL, CE, FCC, RoHS and KCC compliance.
