DFI EC700-AL-N4200-2LAN Intel Pentium N4200 Low-Profile Embedded PC with Dual GbE and Wide Temperature

Indoor kiosks, HMIs and signage players rarely need an extended temperature CPU, but they do benefit from four cores and plenty of USB. The EC700-AL-N4200-2LAN is the Pentium build of the DFI EC700-AL series for those jobs: a low-profile fanless embedded PC with an Intel Pentium N4200, four USB 3.0 ports, two GbE ports and four COM ports.

The Pentium N4200 runs four Apollo Lake cores within a 6 W TDP, which suits kiosk software, HMI front ends and signage playback. Memory is 4 GB of DDR3L onboard plus one 204-pin SO-DIMM, up to 8 GB in total, and 32 GB of eMMC holds the OS. Intel HD Graphics drives two displays, and the EC700-AL-N4200-2LAN runs Windows 10 IoT or Linux, as DFI states for Apollo Lake.

Networking is two Intel I210 GbE ports on RJ45, with four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, four RS-232/422/485 ports on DB9 and one DisplayPort output at up to 4096×2160 at 60 Hz and one VGA at up to 1920×1200. Storage is a 2.5-inch SATA bay and a full-size mSATA slot, plus the onboard eMMC. A full-size Mini PCIe slot with nano-SIM takes an optional 4G module, and an M.2 2230 E key slot takes optional Wi-Fi, with antenna holes on the front panel.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack. DFI rates the EC700-AL-N4200-2LAN from -20 °C to 60 °C and lists CE, FCC Class A, RoHS, CCC, UL and KC compliance, and it mounts on a wall, a VESA plate or a DIN rail with optional kits. We supply it configured and tested, with memory, storage, the OS image and any 4G or Wi-Fi modules fitted before it ships. The EC700-AL-N4200-4LAN has four GbE ports with the same processor, and the EC700-AL-E3950-2LAN keeps this I/O with -40 °C to 70 °C operation.
