DFI EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i315UE8 6-Core Intel Core i3-1215UE Embedded Box PC with 2x USB-C and Wide Temperature

Signage players and small control desks often need more screens than ports, and USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode is a tidy way to add them. The EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i315UE8 is the six-core Intel Core i3-1215UE build of the DFI EC70A-ADP series with two USB-C ports beside two USB 3.2 Type-A, in a fanless embedded box PC.

The Core i3-1215UE has six cores and eight threads with a boost clock of up to 4.4 GHz, set to 15 W for fanless running. Intel UHD Graphics handles the displays and hardware decode for AV1, H.265 and H.264. Memory is 8 GB on-board plus one DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot that takes up to 32 GB. Intel AMT is not offered on the i3 builds. DFI lists Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Linux, with TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer.

Networking is one 2.5GbE port and two GbE ports. COM1 and COM2 are RS-232/422/485 and COM4 is RS-232, all on DB9, while COM3 is RS-232 or 8-bit DIO by jumper. Two USB 3.2 Type-A ports sit beside two USB-C ports with DisplayPort alt mode, so with HDMI at 4K 30 Hz and DP at 4K 60 Hz up to four displays can run at once. Inside are an M.2 2280 M key slot for a PCIe x4 or SATA SSD, an M.2 3042/3052 B key slot with a SIM slot for an optional 4G or 5G module, and an M.2 2230 E key slot for optional Wi-Fi.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack, which suits 12 V and 24 V cabinet supplies. It runs fanless from -20 °C to 60 °C with a wide-temperature SSD, so there are no moving parts to service. The EC70A-ADP aluminium enclosure fits a wall, a VESA bracket or a DIN rail, and the EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i315UE8 is tested to IEC 60068-2-27 shock and IEC 60068-2-64 vibration, with CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and KC listed. The EC70A-ADP4043-i315UE8 keeps four USB-A ports instead, and the EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i545UE8 moves to a 10-core Core i5.
