DFI EC70A-ADP Intel Alder Lake Core i7/i5/i3 Embedded Box PCs with 2.5GbE, 4x COM and Wide Temperature

Most machine-side computers end up doing more than the job they were bought for: an HMI picks up data logging, a gateway picks up a camera, and a signage player picks up a second screen. The DFI EC70A-ADP series is a family of small embedded box PCs built for that kind of growth, with 12th Gen Intel Core Alder Lake-P processors, four COM ports and three M.2 slots in an aluminium enclosure that mounts on a wall, a VESA bracket or a DIN rail.

Every EC70A-ADP build pairs 8 GB of on-board DDR4 with one DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot that takes up to 32 GB, so memory can grow without losing the soldered base. Networking is one 2.5GbE and two GbE ports, and the serial set is two RS-232/422/485 ports, one RS-232 port and a fourth port that switches between RS-232 and 8-bit DIO by jumper. An M.2 2280 M key takes a PCIe x4 or SATA SSD, an M.2 3042/3052 B key with SIM slot takes an optional 4G or 5G module, and an M.2 2230 E key takes optional Wi-Fi. HDMI and DP outputs, TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer are standard.

The range splits by processor, USB layout and cooling. With four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, the EC70A-ADP4043-i315UE8 carries the six-core Core i3-1215UE, the EC70A-ADP4043-i545UE8 the 10-core Core i5-1245UE and the EC70A-ADP4043-i765UE8 the 10-core Core i7-1265UE, with Intel AMT on the i5 and i7. The EC70A-ADP4043F-i765UE8 adds a fan and runs the i7 at 28 W for a 70 °C rating. The USB-C builds swap two USB-A ports for two USB-C ports with DisplayPort alt mode, for up to four displays: the EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i315UE8, EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i545UE8 and EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i765UE8 are fanless, and the EC70A-ADP4022TC3F-i765UE8 is the fan-cooled i7.

In practice the EC70A-ADP series suits machine HMI, data collection, multi-screen operator desks, signage and line-side vision. Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack. Fanless builds run at 15 W from -20 °C to 60 °C and fan builds at 28 W from -20 °C to 70 °C, both with a wide-temperature SSD. DFI tests the embedded box PCs to IEC 60068-2-27 shock and IEC 60068-2-64 vibration and lists CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and KC, with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Linux support.
