DFI EC70A-ADP4043-i545UE8 Intel Core i5 12th Gen Embedded Box PC with 2.5GbE, 4x COM and Wide Temperature

Line-side vision checks, SCADA clients and edge data collection often sit between an i3 and an i7 in what they ask of the processor. The EC70A-ADP4043-i545UE8 puts the 10-core Intel Core i5-1245UE into the DFI EC70A-ADP series, with Intel Iris Xe graphics, Intel AMT, four USB 3.2 Type-A ports and a fanless embedded box PC enclosure.

The Core i5-1245UE has 10 cores and 12 threads with a boost clock of up to 4.4 GHz, set to 15 W for fanless running. Intel Iris Xe Graphics handles the displays and hardware decode for AV1, H.265 and H.264. Memory is 8 GB on-board plus one DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot that takes up to 32 GB. Intel AMT is supported on this build for remote management. DFI lists Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Linux, with TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer.

Networking is one 2.5GbE port and two GbE ports. COM1 and COM2 are RS-232/422/485 and COM4 is RS-232, all on DB9, while COM3 is RS-232 or 8-bit DIO by jumper. Four USB 3.2 Type-A ports cover scanners, keyboards and storage, and HDMI at 4K 30 Hz plus DP at 4K 60 Hz drive two displays. Inside are an M.2 2280 M key slot for a PCIe x4 or SATA SSD, an M.2 3042/3052 B key slot with a SIM slot for an optional 4G or 5G module, and an M.2 2230 E key slot for optional Wi-Fi.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack, which suits 12 V and 24 V cabinet supplies. It runs fanless from -20 °C to 60 °C with a wide-temperature SSD, so there are no moving parts to service. The EC70A-ADP aluminium enclosure fits a wall, a VESA bracket or a DIN rail, and the EC70A-ADP4043-i545UE8 is tested to IEC 60068-2-27 shock and IEC 60068-2-64 vibration, with CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and KC listed. The EC70A-ADP4043-i765UE8 adds a higher boost clock in the same build, and the EC70A-ADP4022TC3-i545UE8 swaps two USB-A ports for USB-C.
