DFI VC500-CMS-MXM Intel 10th Gen Core In-Vehicle Computers with Ampere or Turing MXM GPU and 10GbE or PoE

GPU analytics on a vehicle used to mean a separate graphics box, a PoE switch and a lot of cabling. The DFI VC500-CMS-MXM series puts an MXM GPU module inside an E-Mark compliant in-vehicle computer, beside the cameras’ PoE ports or 10G fibre inputs, so detection and recording can run on board. Every VC500-CMS-MXM model uses 10th Gen Intel Core processors on the Q470E chipset and runs on 9 to 50 V DC with ignition.

The MXM slot takes a Type A or B module, and DFI lists the NVIDIA RTX A500, RTX A1000, RTX A2000 and Quadro RTX 3000. The BIOS selects the MXM GPU or the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, and with a GPU fitted the VC500-CMS-MXM series offers seven display outputs: four DisplayPort from the GPU, a DP++/HDMI combo and two DP++. Memory is DDR4-2933 on two SO-DIMMs up to 64 GB. Two swappable 2.5″ SATA bays with lock support RAID 0/1 for recorded video, and an M.2 2280 slot with PCIe Gen3 x4 holds an NVMe boot drive. Five COM ports, 8-bit isolated DIO, eight USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and two GbE ports are common to all three, with M.2 and mini PCIe slots for optional 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi or CAN modules.

The three models differ in networking and in how fixed the build is. The VC500-CMS-MXM-10G-Q carries two 10G SFP+ ports on an Intel X710-BM2 controller for fibre cameras, lidar or uplinks, with a choice of Core i9 to i3 and MXM module. The VC500-CMS-MXM-POE-Q has four IEEE 802.3af PoE ports on RJ45 at up to 15.4 W each, again with a choice of processor and GPU. The VC500-CMS-A1000-POE-Q-i70 fixes the PoE build at a Core i7-10700TE with an NVIDIA RTX A1000, for fleets that want one repeatable specification.

In practice the VC500-CMS-MXM series suits police and emergency vehicles, transit CCTV with on-board analytics, road and rail inspection, and mapping vehicles. Every model runs from -20 °C to 60 °C with passive cooling by default, with fan cooling as an option on request, is shock and vibration tested to MIL-STD-810G and wall mounts. DFI lists FCC, E-Mark compliance, CE, RoHS and UKCA, and the VC500-CMS-MXM series runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Ubuntu 20.04.
