DFI WL051-ECC-8365UE 2.5″ Pico-ITX SBC with Intel Core i5-8365UE, Dual GbE and -30 to 80 °C

A compact controller or display box often has room for little more than a 2.5 inch board, yet it still needs two network connections, two screens and a few serial and digital signals. The WL051-ECC-8365UE is the Core i5-8365UE extended-temperature build in the DFI WL051 series: a 2.5 inch Pico-ITX SBC, also called a Pico-ITX motherboard, built for space-limited designs.

The Intel Core i5-8365UE is a quad-core 8th Gen processor at 1.6 GHz base and up to 4.1 GHz with 6 MB cache and a 15 W TDP, with Intel UHD Graphics 620. That gives four cores at a lower top clock than the i7. The i7 and i5 builds support Intel AMT for remote management. One DDR4 SO-DIMM socket takes up to 32 GB of single-channel DDR4-2400. Graphics handle hardware decode and encode for H.264 and HEVC, and two independent displays run from DP++/HDMI and eDP at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz, so one board can drive a built-in panel and a monitor.

Rear I/O covers two GbE ports on Intel I219V/I219LM and I211AT/I210IT controllers, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and the DP++/HDMI output. Internal headers add two USB 2.0, one RS-232/422/485 port, 8-bit digital I/O, SMBus and audio. Two M.2 B key 3042/2242 sockets take SATA or PCIe x1 SSDs, and an M.2 E key 2230 adds a PCIe x2 or USB 2.0 card. The WL051-BCA-8365UE is the same board rated for -5 to 65 °C, and the WL053-ECA-8365UE trades the second LAN port and eDP for a 9 to 36 V DC input.

Power is a single 12 V DC input on a 2-pin terminal block, drawing a typical 6.12 W and up to 27.12 W on the i7 build. The WL051-ECC-8365UE is fanless, rated for -30 to 80 °C operation and ships with an 11 mm heat spreader, with heatsinks available as options. It measures 100 x 72 mm, supports Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux, and has fTPM 2.0 and a watchdog. It carries CE, FCC and KC marks and is RoHS compliant.
