DFI WL171-NB-8145UE Intel Core i3-8145UE (Whiskey Lake) Industrial Mini-ITX Motherboard with Dual GbE and Triple Display

Signage players, self-service kiosks and indoor HMIs spend much of their time on one thread: rendering a page, decoding a video or redrawing a screen. The WL171-NB-8145UE is the Core i3 build in the DFI WL171 series of industrial Mini-ITX motherboards, with a high burst clock for that kind of work, a 12 V DC input and a -5 to 65 °C rating for indoor sites.

Its Intel Core i3-8145UE (Whiskey Lake) has two cores at 2.2 GHz, bursting to 3.9 GHz, with 4 MB of cache in a 15 W TDP. Two DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 32 GB. Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives three independent displays from two rear DP++ outputs at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and a dual-channel LVDS header at up to 1920 x 1200, so a kiosk can run its touch panel and a second promotional screen.

Two GbE ports on Intel I210AT and I219LM controllers connect the content network and a local device. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and four internal USB 2.0 headers take touch controllers, cameras and card readers, and one RS-232/422/485 plus one RS-232 port and 8-bit DIO handle printers and lamps. An M.2 M-key with PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD, two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1 and 5, an M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot is free for an add-in card.

The WL171-NB-8145UE runs from 12 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -5 to 65 °C, with a discrete TPM 2.0 and a watchdog programmable from 1 to 255 seconds. Intel vPro and AMT are not supported on this build; for remote management and a -20 to 70 °C rating, choose WL171-NE-8365UE or WL171-NE-8665UE.
