DFI WL173-NB-8145UE Intel Core i3-8145UE (Whiskey Lake) Mini-ITX Mainboard with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Dual GbE

An HMI mounted on a packaging machine or a press usually takes its power from the machine’s 24 V control supply, and it has to redraw screens quickly when an operator acts. The WL173-NB-8145UE is the Core i3 build in the DFI WL173 series of Mini-ITX mainboards, taking 9 to 36 V DC and rated from -5 to 65 °C for indoor machines.

Its Intel Core i3-8145UE (Whiskey Lake) has two cores at 2.2 GHz, bursting to 3.9 GHz, with 4 MB of cache in a 15 W TDP. The high burst clock keeps a single-threaded HMI responsive. Two DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 32 GB, and Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives three independent displays: two rear DP++ outputs at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and a dual-channel LVDS header at up to 1920 x 1200.

Two GbE ports on Intel I210AT and I219LM controllers connect the machine and plant networks. One RS-232/422/485 and one RS-232 port on internal headers, plus 8-bit DIO, reach drives and stack lights. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and four internal USB 2.0 headers take barcode readers and service drives. An M.2 M-key with PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD, two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1 and 5, an M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot takes a fieldbus card.

The WL173-NB-8145UE runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -5 to 65 °C, with a discrete TPM 2.0 and a watchdog. Intel vPro and AMT are not supported on this build. For remote management and a -20 to 70 °C rating, WL173-NE-8365UE brings a quad-core Core i5, and WL173-NB-4305UE is the dual-core Celeron build for simpler tasks.
