Diamond Systems EPS-24G4X-1577 Compact Managed Layer 3 24 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with IEEE-1588 PTP

When cameras, sensors and computers on a vehicle or test rig must timestamp data against the same clock, the switch in the middle has to carry precise time as well as traffic. The EPS-24G4X-1588 is the IEEE-1588 build in the Diamond Systems EPS-24G4X series: a managed Ethernet switch board that Diamond designed for vehicle and other rugged environments, with a PTP clock circuit fitted.

It provides 24 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports with non-blocking wire-speed performance and four 10G SFI ports on SFP+ sockets, with 4 MB of packet memory. It runs Diamond’s Layer 3 routing and switching software with IEEE-1588 PTP support. You manage every feature through a web GUI over any port, a command language on the built-in RS-232 port or SNMP v1/v2c/v3, and customer branding can put your logo and part numbers on the interfaces.

The board adds a PTP clock circuit and 1PPS I/O to the Layer 3 feature set of IPv6 static routing, RFC 2328 OSPFv2 dynamic routing, RADIUS accounting and port and queue policers, on top of 4K VLANs, link aggregation and RSTP/MSTP. The standard cable kit does not cover the 1PPS signal. The EPS-24G4X-L3 keeps Layer 3 routing without the clock circuit, and the EPS-24G4X is the Layer 2+ build. At 24 V input the board draws 13 W with all ports idle, 20 W with all 24 copper ports active and 26 W with every port active, from a wide-range supply with built-in transient protection. It is rated down to -40 °C, with latching I/O connectors and MIL-STD-202G shock and vibration resistance. Two heat sinks cool the module and carrier.
