MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 Overview
Ground robots and patrol drones often run more than one camera, and every extra stream adds memory pressure on the AI module. The MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 is a rugged military computer in the Forecr MILBOX-ORNX series built on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 8GB module, giving twice the memory of the entry build inside the same compact, sealed enclosure.
With 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, the Jetson Orin Nano 8GB can hold larger detection models or run several streams side by side, and the datasheet lists Super Mode support for the Orin Nano family. The MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 supports Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 with JetPack 5.x or 6.x. The camera expansion connector suits multi-camera rigs, with a 4x GMSL2 video input listed among the build options.
On the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8, I/O covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports, an RS-232 debug port, two CAN bus ports and one HDMI output. M.2 Key-M 2280 and 2230 sockets take NVMe storage, and an M.2 Key-B socket with a SIM slot accepts LTE or 5G modules, convertible to Key-E for WiFi and Bluetooth. A camera expansion connector links the module’s CSI interfaces to an adapter board, and four HD-BNC coax connectors on the rear carry the GMSL2 option. Power comes from a 9-40 VDC input with 28 VDC nominal and a military-grade filter stage.
Forecr kept this rugged military computer at 1.9 kg, light enough for UAV and small vehicle payloads. The 180.5 x 131 x 111 mm enclosure is designed to meet MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-1275E, MIL-STD-704F, DO-160G and IP67, with a datasheet ambient range of -25°C to +85°C. Where models need more than the Orin Nano offers, the MILBOX-ORNX-NX8 moves to the Jetson Orin NX 8GB on the same carrier.

Official Forecr UK Distributor
Things Embedded is an official Forecr UK distributor, and the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 is the 8GB Orin Nano build of Forecr's compact military computer, with twice the memory of the entry model. The MILBOX-AGX-SDI pairs AGX Orin with four SDI video inputs for surveillance cameras, and the MILBOX-AGXMAX adds 10G Ethernet to AGX Orin for sensor-heavy networks. The DSBOX-ORNX-LAN carries Orin Nano and Orin NX in an industrial format with dual LAN for fixed installations.
The MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 also sits with our Orin Nano computers for buyers who start from the module, and with our in-vehicle computers thanks to its 9-40 VDC input, filtered power stage and two CAN bus ports. Its sealed, compact build places it in our rugged Jetson computers range too, where it can be compared with larger AGX Orin systems on size, weight and I/O. Its camera expansion connector, with a 4x GMSL2 video option, also suits multi-camera ground robots.
