Neousys Nuvo-2822 Intel Alder Lake N97 Compact Expansion Box PC with 2x PCIe and 2x PCI Slots

A machine built around a PCI frame grabber or motion card can keep running for years, until the computer behind it fails and the replacement motherboard no longer has the slot. The Neousys Nuvo-2822 is an expansion box PC built for that situation: two 5 V PCI and two PCIe slots on a 12 W Intel Alder Lake N97, in a compact enclosure sized for restricted spaces and small cabinets.

The Alder Lake N97 runs four cores and four threads at 2.0 GHz, boosting to 3.6 GHz, within 12 W, with one SO-DIMM socket for up to 16 GB of DDR5-4800. Neousys rates the Nuvo-2822 at up to five times the performance of the earlier Nuvo-2400 series, enough to process data from a full set of acquisition cards in real time. Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs drives DP++ at 4096 x 2160 and HDMI 1.4b at 3840 x 2160, dTPM 2.0 is fitted, and an M.2 2280 SATA socket holds the system drive.

The expansion bay carries a PCIe x4 slot with Gen3 x4 signals, a second PCIe x4 slot with Gen3 x1 signals and two 33 MHz 32-bit 5 V PCI slots, so a current frame grabber and a legacy motion card can share one expansion box PC. Two GbE ports by Intel I210-IT and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with screw-lock connect machine vision cameras, two screw-lock USB 2.0 ports take dongles, one RS-232/422/485 and three RS-232 ports talk to PLCs and drives, and 4-channel isolated DI and DO switch sensors, indicators and actuators directly.

Power is a 12 to 24 V DC terminal block, with a 10-pin wafer connector for remote on/off control and status LEDs, and a Super Power Saving Mode cuts consumption in S4 and S5 standby. The Nuvo-2822 operates from -10 °C to 60 °C without a fan, or to 70 °C with the optional 80 mm fan kit and a wide-temperature SSD, with MIL-STD-810H vibration and shock, CE and FCC Class A. It measures 164.6 x 214.6 x 135.6 mm, weighs 2.3 kg and takes an optional wall-mount kit.
