PCIe-NPL54 Overview
Intel and AMD computers rarely have native MIPI inputs, yet ADAS, autonomous driving and outdoor AMR projects increasingly rely on automotive GMSL2 cameras for their HDR, LED flicker mitigation and IP67/IP69K sealing. The PCIe-NPL54 is Neousys’s GMSL2 frame grabber card for that gap: four camera inputs on a single-slot, half-length card that runs fanless in an x86 host.
The card has four GMSL2 FAKRA Z inputs and connects to the host over Gen2 PCI Express x4. It is built on an FPGA and is driver-ready for selected 8MP, 5MP, 3MP and 2MP automotive cameras. Supported configurations include 2x 8MP plus 1x 3MP at 30 FPS, 4x 5MP at 30 FPS, 4x 3MP at 30 FPS, and 4x 2MP at 60 or 30 FPS. Each camera takes power and signal over a single coaxial cable secured by FAKRA connectors.
An isolated GPS PPS input synchronises frames across several PCIe-NPL54 cards and LiDAR, and a GPS PPS output mirrors it so one source can daisy-chain through multiple cards. An RS-232 port connects to the onboard MCU, and an auto recovery mechanism restores camera streaming after an ESD-caused disconnection. Neousys verified four cards in a Nuvo-10208GC host for 60 megapixels. For AI processing on the card itself, the PCIe-GL26 series adds a Jetson Xavier NX and six inputs; our white paper on GMSL technology for edge AI covers the link.
Neousys quotes under 20 W while streaming four 5MP cameras at 30 FPS, with all power drawn from the PCIe connector. The card runs fanless from -40 to 70 °C, stores at -40 to 85 °C and handles 10 to 90% humidity, non-condensing. It measures 167.7 x 111 mm and weighs 183 g. It works with Linux hosts, verified on Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04 and 24.04, and Neousys advises choosing a verified host because BIOS settings and OS storage affect PCIe stability. EMC is CE and FCC Class A to EN 55032 and EN 55035.

Official Neousys UK Distributor
Things Embedded is an official Neousys UK distributor, supplying the PCIe-NPL54 for UK autonomous vehicle and robotics programmes. Within the Neousys range the PCIe-GL26 series adds a Jetson Xavier NX module and six GMSL2 inputs, and the PCIe-PoE464at covers 5GBASE-T industrial cameras instead.
As a fanless four-input card, the PCIe-NPL54 sits among our GMSL2 frame grabbers, our frame grabber cards and our add-in cards. Where an x86 vehicle computer needs automotive cameras without a fan or extra power cable, this is the card to specify.
