Neousys PCIe-PoE352at 2-Port Server-Grade Gigabit 802.3at PoE+ Frame Grabber Card

The PCIe-PoE352at is the two-port build in the Neousys PCIe-PoE-at series, a PoE+ frame grabber card with two Gigabit ports on an Intel I350-AM2 controller, up to 25.5 W per port and all PoE power drawn from the PCIe bus. It suits machine vision and surveillance systems with two GigE cameras.

  • Two Independent GigE Ports: An Intel I350-AM2 controller runs two Gigabit ports, each an independent link for one camera.
  • 802.3at PoE+ per Port: Each port delivers up to 25.5 W, which Neousys notes can power PTZ surveillance cameras as well as machine vision cameras.
  • No External 12 V: PoE power comes directly from the PCI Express bus, so no extra power cable is needed inside the host.
  • Gen2 PCIe x4: An x4 Gen2 interface gives 2GB/s total bandwidth to the host for both camera streams.
  • Offload and Timing: Checksum and segmentation offload reduce CPU load, with 9.5 kB jumbo frames, teaming and IEEE 1588 supported.

PCIe-PoE352at Overview

A two-camera inspection station or a pair of PTZ surveillance cameras needs power and data on each cable, without adding adapters or extra wiring inside the host. The PCIe-PoE352at is the two-port build in the Neousys PCIe-PoE-at series: a PoE+ frame grabber card that takes all its PoE power from the PCI Express slot.

Two independent Gigabit Ethernet ports run from an Intel I350-AM2 controller, with checksum offloading, segmentation offloading and interrupt moderation to reduce CPU utilisation. The ports support 9.5 kB jumbo frames, teaming and IEEE 1588. The card connects over Gen2 PCI Express x4 with 2GB/s total bandwidth, and its single-bus, multi-port design minimises compatibility issues with off-the-shelf motherboards when several cards are installed. Cable runs reach 100 metres over CAT-5e or CAT-6.

Each port delivers up to 25.5 W under IEEE 802.3at-2009, and PoE+ power can be switched on or off per port. The 12 V for powered devices comes directly from the PCI Express bus, so no external 12 V feed is needed. That suits machine vision cameras and PTZ surveillance cameras. The PCIe-PoE354at doubles the port count to four, and the low-profile PCIe-PoE334LP suits 2U servers. Our FAQ on how much power PoE delivers sets out the figures.

From the bus, the card draws a maximum of 0.9 A at 3.3 V and 4.8 A at 12 V. It operates from 0 to 55 °C, uses a heat sink over the controller and measures 168 x 111 mm. Neousys shows CE and FCC marks on the datasheet. Machine vision is the main application Neousys names, with PTZ cameras for surveillance also covered by the 25.5 W per-port figure. We supply the card on its own or fit it to vision systems we build, and a two-port card keeps the power draw from the slot modest.

Official Neousys UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Neousys UK distributor, supplying the PCIe-PoE352at for UK machine vision and surveillance programmes. Within the Neousys range the PCIe-PoE354at adds two more PoE+ ports, and the PCIe-PoE550X keeps two ports but runs them at 10GbE.

As a two-port bus-powered card, the PCIe-PoE352at sits among our GigE Vision frame grabbers, our frame grabber cards and our PCIe video capture cards. Where two GigE cameras need PoE+ with no extra power cable, this is the card to specify.
