Nexcom PPC-120T-AL 12.1″ 600 Nit PCAP Marine Panel PC with Intel Celeron J3455E and IEC 60945

A display on a ship’s bridge or in an offshore control room has to stay readable as the light changes, keep running when one supply drops out and be designed to the maritime equipment standard. The PPC-120T-AL is Nexcom’s 12.1 inch marine panel PC: a fanless panel box PC with a 600 nit PCAP touch screen, an IP65 front bezel and design to IEC 60945.

An Intel Celeron J3455E quad-core processor runs at up to 2.3 GHz with 2 MB cache, a 10 W TDP and TPM 2.0, and the unit ships with an 8 GB DDR3L-1600 industrial SO-DIMM and a 128 GB M.2 2242 TLC SSD rated from -40 to 85 °C, with Windows 10 64-bit support. The 12.1 inch LCD runs at 1280 x 800 (WXGA) with 600 nits brightness and 176° viewing angles, and an ambient light sensor dims it automatically as light levels fall. The projected capacitive touch glass has an anti-reflective coating and 89% light transmission.

Four GbE RJ45 ports on Intel I210-IT controllers let separate networks reach the console, and one of them accepts PoE power. Two isolated RS-232/422/485 ports connect serial instruments and legacy equipment. Two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.0 Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode and a DisplayPort output drive up to two further screens. For a smaller indoor build, the XPPC 10-100 is Nexcom’s 10.1 inch slim touchscreen computer.

Power is 18 to 32 V DC (24 V nominal) on a three-pin Phoenix terminal block, redundant with PoE power on one LAN port and with uninterrupted switching between the two. The PPC-120T-AL is fanless, operates from -10 to 55 °C at 10 to 90% humidity, non-condensing, and has an IP65 front with an IP20 rear. It carries CE and FCC Class A marks, measures 307.5 x 209 x 64 mm and mounts through a flush-mount kit into a console or on 75 x 75 mm VESA.
