Sintrones EMUC-B202-W2 USB to Dual Isolated CAN Adapter with SAE J1939 Firmware

The EMUC-B202-W2 is the J1939 build of the Sintrones EMUC-B202 series: the same Mini PCIe card with two isolated CAN ports over USB 2.0, running firmware that supports SAE J1939 alongside CAN 2.0B. Suits heavy-vehicle diagnostics and fleet telematics computers on trucks, buses and off-highway machines.

  • SAE J1939 Firmware: Firmware supporting the SAE J1939 higher-layer protocol alongside basic CAN 2.0B, for heavy-vehicle diagnostics and fleet data.
  • Two Isolated DB9 Ports: Two isolated CAN ports brought out as DB9 through the supplied cables, with 2.5 kV HiPOT and 2.5 kV surge protection.
  • Up to 6000 Messages per Second: Receives up to 6000 CAN messages per second at baud rates from 100 to 1000 kbit/s, with acceptance filtering.
  • Listen-Only Mode and SocketCAN: Listen-only mode, error status and saved configuration, with an additional driver for Linux SocketCAN support.
  • Mini PCIe Card on USB 2.0: A full-size Mini PCIe card drawing 1.62 W at 3.3 V, rated from -40 °C to 85 °C with 50 G shock.

EMUC-B202-W2 Overview

Trucks, buses and off-highway machines typically report engine and drivetrain data as SAE J1939 messages on CAN, and telematics or diagnostics software on the vehicle computer needs that traffic without an external gateway. The Sintrones EMUC-B202-W2 is the J1939 build of the EMUC-B202 series: a two-port isolated Mini PCIe card whose firmware supports SAE J1939 alongside basic CAN 2.0B.

On the host side, the EMUC-B202-W2 appears over USB 2.0. Its two CAN ports are backward compatible with CAN 2.0A and run at 100, 125, 250, 500 (default), 800 or 1000 kbit/s, with 250 kbit/s and 500 kbit/s among the options; 50 kbit/s is not supported. The card receives up to 6000 messages per second and offers acceptance filtering, listen-only mode for passive monitoring, error status and configuration kept after a reboot, plus firmware upgrade and an additional driver for Linux SocketCAN.

Both ports reach the outside as DB9 connectors through the supplied cables, wired CAN-L on pin 2, ground on pin 3 and CAN-H on pin 7, with termination set by jumper. A third mounting hole and a USB pin header allow installation away from a Mini Card socket. For general CAN 2.0B buses the EMUC-B202-W1 runs the basic firmware, and for CANopen networks the EMUC-B202-W3 uses the same hardware.

The card draws 1.62 W (490 mA at 3.3 V) and runs from -40 °C to 85 °C, with storage from -55 °C to 95 °C, 5 G vibration from 7 to 2000 Hz and 50 G shock at 0.5 ms. Sintrones lists 2.5 kV HiPOT protection to IEC 60950-1, 2.5 kV surge protection to EN 61000-4-5 and ESD protection to EN 61000-4-2 at 15 kV air and 8 kV contact. It suits Sintrones computers with a free full-size Mini PCIe slot that carries USB 2.0, and we fit and test the EMUC-B202-W2 in the host computer as part of the build, with the DB9 cables brought out to the enclosure.
