Stereolabs ZED-X-NARROW-POL (ZED-312120) Global Shutter GMSL2 IP67 Stereo Camera with Narrow 4.6 mm Lenses, Polarizer and Up to 35 m Depth

Heavy machines outdoors often need to judge what is 20 or 30 m away, in light that changes from overcast to low glaring sun within the same shift. The Stereolabs ZED-X-NARROW-POL is built for that case: the long-range 4.6 mm lenses of the ZED-X series with a built-in polarizer, for farm machinery, logistics vehicles and outdoor autonomous machines.

The polarizer, in the Stereolabs description, minimises glare and reflections while improving colour depth, so water, glass and painted metal at distance keep enough texture for stereo matching. The lenses cover 73° horizontally and 87° diagonally at f/2.0, with global-shutter 1/2.6″ 2.3MP sensors on a 12 cm baseline. Depth runs from 1 m to 35 m, ideal to 20 m, with accuracy within 7% at 20 m, and the ZED SDK tracks bodies to 15 m. The ZED-X-NARROW-POL outputs 1920 x 1200 at 60 fps or 960 x 600 at 120 fps.

A lockable FAKRA Z connector carries GMSL2 video and power over coax up to 15 m, at a typical 1.46 W from a 5 to 20 V supply, to an NVIDIA Jetson Orin or Xavier host on Jetson Linux. On a Jetson AGX Orin a ZED-LINK-QUAD card takes up to eight cameras with hardware sync within 100 µs. The ZED-X-NARROW is the same camera without the polarizer, and the ZED-X-WIDE-POL keeps it with a 120° diagonal view for close work.

The IP67-rated aluminium body handles dust and rain, operating from -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 90% humidity at 40 °C, and is rated for 2g RMS vibration from 3 to 500 Hz. A 1/4″-20 thread, 2x M3 holes and 4x M4 rear holes fit cab roofs, booms and the optional tiltable mount. We supply the ZED-X-NARROW-POL tested on a Jetson Orin host with JetPack and the ZED SDK configured, with optional FAKRA cables and extensions for long cable runs.
