Vecow ESP-1000 Intel Atom x6425RE Fanless Industrial Edge Computer with Integrated LAN and SFP Switch

Machine vision cells and small control networks often add a separate Ethernet switch beside the computer, which means another box, another supply and another point of failure. The Vecow ESP-1000 is an industrial edge computer that removes that extra box, combining an Intel Atom x6425RE with a built-in 8-port Layer 2 unmanaged switch.

The quad-core Intel Atom x6425RE from the Elkhart Lake family works with one DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM slot for up to 32 GB, under Windows 10 or Linux. That suits data collection, protocol conversion, HMI and light vision tasks on the same unit that runs the local network. Intel UHD Graphics drive DVI-I at up to 3840 x 2160 and DisplayPort at up to 4096 x 2160, and storage sits on an M.2 Key M 2280 socket with PCIe x2 or SATA.

The switch provides six 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports and two 100/1000 SFP ports, so cameras, controllers and a fibre uplink can connect directly to the ESP-1000. Separately, the computer has an Intel I225 2.5GbE port with Time-Sensitive Networking support and an Intel I210 GbE port. Four RS-232/422/485 ports with 8 kV ESD protection, two USB 3.1 and two USB 2.0 ports and an M.2 Key E socket for Wi-Fi complete the I/O, with TPM 2.0 on board.

Power for the ESP-1000 is 9 V to 55 V DC through a terminal block, and it runs fanless from -25°C to 70°C. Shock and vibration are tested to IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-64, and Vecow lists EN 50155 and EN 50121-3-2 EMC compliance. The enclosure measures 225.0 x 150.4 x 58.0 mm. For the same processor without the switch, the SPC-6000 is the smaller option.
