12G-SDI to HDMI2.0 Overview
A single 12G-SDI cable carries 4K60, but most monitors and many recorders in a production space are HDMI. The Yuan 12G-SDI to HDMI2.0 is an SDI to HDMI converter that puts a 12G-SDI feed onto HDMI 2.0 while passing the SDI signal on, typically for monitoring in broadcast, live events and pro AV.
Input is one 12G-SDI connection accepting 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 at 60/50 fps, 6G-SDI at 4K30, and 3G and HD-SDI formats down to 720p. Outputs are one HDMI 2.0 and two 12G-SDI, all following the input format without scaling. Yuan lists a power-amplified SDI loop out among the features. SDI to HDMI conversion requires a 4:2:2 10-bit source. Embedded audio of up to eight channels, 24-bit, 48 kHz is carried on HDMI and SDI.
The 12G-SDI to HDMI2.0 has auto source format detection and runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. If your source may arrive as quad-link SDI, the 12G-QSDI to HDMI2.0 accepts it and gives two HDMI outputs. To go the other way, the HDMI2.0 to 12G-SDI converts HDMI 2.0 to two 12G-SDI outputs.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this converter, so plan for an indoor rack or desk. We can also supply spare units for critical signal paths and advise on mounting and power in the rack, so the installation is ready before you go live. Send us the formats, frame rates and cable runs on your system and we can check this converter fits, then pair it with Yuan capture cards where the signal also needs recording or streaming.
