Multi Converter Overview
Facilities that still run analogue sources alongside SDI and HDMI often end up with a different converter for every pairing. The Yuan Multi Converter is a broadcast video converter that takes one of six video interfaces in and outputs all six at once, which suits broadcast, education, heritage archive and pro AV systems with mixed generations of kit.
Inputs are HDMI, SDI, DVI-I, component, S-Video and composite, plus a pair of RCA connectors for L/R audio. Outputs are HDMI, two SDI, DVI-I, component, S-Video and composite, plus an RCA pair. HDMI and DVI-I cover 1080p at 60/50 fps down to SD and VESA PC formats from 640×480 to 1280×1024. SDI covers 3G, HD and SD-SDI. Component runs from 480i to 1080p, and composite and S-Video handle NTSC and PAL. HDMI and SDI embedded audio run at up to eight channels, 24-bit, with two channels on the RCA connections.
Set-up is through buttons and an OSD menu, with 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio conversion and region of interest. It runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. For a 4K source mix, the Multi Converter 4K takes HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort, DVI-DL and SDI to 12G-SDI. If you only need analogue and DVI into SDI and HDMI, the Multi to SDI/HDMI is the one-way version.
No operating temperature or certification is published, so we treat the Multi Converter as an indoor rack or desk unit. Send us the formats, frame rates and cable runs on your system and we can check this converter fits, then pair it with Yuan capture cards where the signal also needs recording or streaming. We supply the Multi Converter configured and tested with the sources, displays and network it will connect to.
