Multi to SDI/HDMI Overview
Archive decks, older cameras and legacy PC outputs still turn up in broadcast, education and heritage projects, but modern switchers, recorders and encoders take SDI or HDMI. The Yuan Multi to SDI/HDMI is a broadcast video converter that brings analogue and DVI sources onto SDI and HDMI with scaling.
Inputs are one DVI-I connection and three BNC connectors shared for component, S-Video and composite, plus a stereo jack for L/R analogue audio. Composite and S-Video accept NTSC and PAL, component accepts 480i to 1080p, and DVI-I accepts 1080p at 60/50 fps down to SD and VESA PC formats from 640×480 to 1280×1024, VESA DMT and CVT compliant. Outputs are one HDMI and two SDI, up/down converted to 3G, HD and SD-SDI. Audio is embedded at up to eight channels, 24-bit, 48 kHz.
The Multi to SDI/HDMI includes 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio conversion and region of interest, and runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. For the reverse direction, the SDI/HDMI to Multi outputs analogue and DVI from SDI or HDMI. If you need both directions in one unit, the Multi Converter adds HDMI and SDI inputs and every output type.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this converter, so plan for an indoor rack or desk.
