mPCIeSC540N1 MC HDV Overview
Kiosk PCs, embedded recorders and small control systems sometimes need to take in a video source that may be HDMI, DVI or older analogue, and the only free slot is a Mini PCIe socket. The SC540N1 MC HDV is Yuan’s Mini PCIe HDMI, DVI and VGA capture card for that job, taking one HDMI, DVI-I, YPbPr or VGA signal through an on-board wafer connector.
Signals up to 1920 x 1200p and 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps are accepted and captured at 30/25 fps. Yuan’s resolution table also lists 1080i60/50, 720p60/50, common PC timings from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024, and YPbPr formats up to 1080p60. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Audio comes from HDMI embedded sound or analogue left and right inputs on the wafer connector, captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card connects over a PCIe x1 link in a Mini PCIe socket. Software support runs through Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK and standard DirectShow and V4L2 drivers, and Yuan names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible. Where full 60 fps capture matters, the SC542N1 MC HDV covers HDMI, DVI-I and YPbPr at 1080p60, and the SC540N1 MC SDI is the SDI card in the same size.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 30 x 50.95 mm, and connections run through the wafer connector rather than a panel bracket, so cable routing is planned with the enclosure. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
