mPCIeSC542N1 MC HDV Overview
Embedded recorders and compact streaming PCs often need to capture an HDMI or DVI source at full frame rate, yet the only expansion option is a Mini PCIe socket. The SC542N1 MC HDV is Yuan’s Mini PCIe HDMI and DVI video capture card for that host, taking one HDMI, DVI-I or YPbPr input and capturing it at up to 60 fps.
HDMI and DVI signals are captured at up to 1920 x 1200p and 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with 1080i, 720p and PC timings from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024 also listed. YPbPr runs up to 1080p60/50. Colour formats for capture and preview are 8-bit RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0. Audio comes from HDMI embedded sound or analogue left and right inputs on a wafer connector, captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card runs on a PCIe x1 link in a Mini PCIe socket. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC540N1 MC HDV adds a VGA input with 30 fps capture, and the SC542N1 MC SDI is the SDI card in the same size.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 30 x 50.95 mm. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
