PCI ExpressSC542N1-L SDI Overview
Streaming a single SDI camera or recording a production feed calls for a capture card that keeps the full frame rate and leaves the signal free for a local monitor. The SC542N1-L SDI is Yuan’s single-channel PCIe SDI frame grabber for that job, with an SDI input and an SDI loop-through output.
The card captures SDI up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with HD-SDI at 1080p30/25/24, 1080i60/50 and 720p60/50, and SD-SDI at 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Embedded audio is captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x1 Gen2 link. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC542N2-L SDI captures two SDI feeds with loop-through on the same interface, and the SC542N1 MC SDI brings a single SDI input to a Mini PCIe socket.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 108 x 68.9 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog, useful in unattended recorders. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
