Arestech SB-5612 Intel Core i5-1235U Fanless Box PCs with 4x COM and Optional Isolated DIO

Plenty of automation cabinets still run on serial links and discrete signals, and a box PC that offers only USB and Ethernet pushes the integrator into adapters and remote I/O modules. The Arestech SB-5612 series keeps four RS-232/422/485 ports and an optional isolated DIO block on board, in fanless box PCs on the Intel Core i5-1235U for factory automation, automation machines, transportation management and edge computing.

Both models use the ten-core 12th Gen Core i5-1235U with Intel Iris Xe graphics, dual-channel DDR4 3200 up to 64 GB across two SO-DIMM sockets and firmware TPM. Two Intel I226V 2.5GbE ports, two HDMI outputs up to 4096 x 2160, four USB 3.2 Gen2 and two USB 2.0 ports, a four-in, four-out GPIO connector, line-out and mic-in sit alongside the four serial ports. Storage is an M.2 2280 M-Key slot with PCIe x4 or SATA III and a removable 2.5″ SATA SSD tray, and a full-size mini-PCIe slot, an M.2 E-Key slot and a nano-SIM holder take optional 4G and Wi-Fi, with seven antenna holes and a flexible I/O window for extra interfaces.

The two models differ only in digital I/O. The SB-5612-1A1 is the standard build for cabinets that talk to their machines over serial and Ethernet. The SB-5612-1A2 adds 16 isolated digital inputs and 16 isolated outputs on a dedicated connector, so the box PC can read limit switches and drive relays or lamps directly. Because both share one enclosure and power input, a design can move between them without changing the cabinet layout.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a two-pin terminal block with AT and ATX modes, which suits 12 V and 24 V cabinet supplies. The SB-5612 series runs fanless from -20 °C to 60 °C, is tested under IEC 60068 for vibration and shock, carries CE and FCC Class A marks and wall mounts, with Windows 11 or Linux supported. That makes these fanless box PCs a good fit for packaging lines, machine retrofits and transport control cabinets where serial devices and discrete signals still matter.
