DFI ECX700-AL-E3940-WIFI-LTE Intel Atom x5-E3940 Rugged Waterproof Computer with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE

Outdoor signage, car park systems and remote kiosks often run content players or local databases that want more than a dual-core processor, while still reporting over cellular. The ECX700-AL-E3940-WIFI-LTE is the quad-core wireless build of the DFI ECX700-AL series, an IP67 and IP69K waterproof computer with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE fitted.

Compute is the Intel Atom x5-E3940, four cores at 1.6 GHz, up to 1.8 GHz, at 9.5 W, with Intel HD Graphics driving one HDMI output at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. Memory is 4 GB of DDR3L on board plus one SO-DIMM slot for up to 8 GB, and storage is 64 GB of eMMC. As an Apollo Lake system, the ECX700-AL-E3940-WIFI-LTE supports Windows 10 IoT Enterprise as DFI states, as well as Linux, which suits established HMI, data collection and signage software.

I/O on the bottom panel covers two GbE ports from Intel I210AT controllers on M12 and two USB 3.0 ports on sealed IP67 receptacles, with HDMI and an external SIM slot on the front. This build fits the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module and the 4G LTE module as standard, with LTE antennas on the top and Wi-Fi antennas on the front. It has no serial or CAN bus combo port. Inside are two full-size Mini PCIe slots and one M.2 2230 slot.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on an M12 D-coded connector. The ECX700-AL-E3940-WIFI-LTE runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C in a housing rated IP67 and IP69K, with operating shock tested at 15 G half-sine to IEC 60068-2-27 and vibration to MIL-STD-810G. DFI lists CE, FCC Class A and RoHS, with a UKCA declaration, and the unit wall mounts. We supply it configured and tested, with the OS image and fitted modules checked before it ships.
