DFI ECX700-AL-E3950-CAN-WIFI-LTE Intel Atom x7-E3950 Rugged Waterproof Computer with CAN Bus, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE

A connected vehicle or outdoor machine often needs everything at once: CAN bus to the controller, serial to a peripheral, wired Ethernet to a camera or switch, and a cellular link home. The ECX700-AL-E3950-CAN-WIFI-LTE is the fully equipped build of the DFI ECX700-AL series, an IP67 and IP69K waterproof computer with all of those fitted.

Compute is the Intel Atom x7-E3950, four cores at 1.6 GHz, up to 2.0 GHz, at 12 W, with Intel HD Graphics driving one HDMI output at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. Memory is 4 GB of DDR3L on board plus one SO-DIMM slot for up to 8 GB, and storage is 64 GB of eMMC. As an Apollo Lake system, the ECX700-AL-E3950-CAN-WIFI-LTE supports Windows 10 IoT Enterprise as DFI states, as well as Linux, which suits established HMI, data collection and signage software.

I/O on the bottom panel covers two GbE ports from Intel I210AT controllers on M12, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port on sealed IP67 receptacles, and a combo connector carrying two RS-232 and two CAN bus ports. The front has HDMI and an external SIM slot. This build fits the CAN card, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module and the 4G LTE module as standard. Expansion inside is two full-size Mini PCIe slots, one for an LTE module and one for the CAN card, and one M.2 2230 slot for a Wi-Fi module, with antenna holes on the top and front.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on an M12 D-coded connector. The ECX700-AL-E3950-CAN-WIFI-LTE runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C in a housing rated IP67 and IP69K, with operating shock tested at 15 G half-sine to IEC 60068-2-27 and vibration to MIL-STD-810G. DFI lists CE, FCC Class A and RoHS, with a UKCA declaration, and the unit wall mounts. We supply it configured and tested, with the OS image and fitted modules checked before it ships. Without wireless, the ECX700-AL-E3930-CAN keeps CAN bus on a dual-core Atom, and the ECX700-AL-E3940-WIFI-LTE keeps Wi-Fi and LTE without CAN.
