DFI EHL173 Mini-ITX Motherboards with Intel Atom X Series and Wide-Range DC Input

Machines, vehicles and DC-powered cabinets rarely offer a clean 12 V rail, and a Mini-ITX board that needs its own regulated supply adds parts and wiring. The DFI EHL173 series is built for that brief: a family of Mini-ITX motherboards, also called Mini-ITX SBCs, measuring 170 x 170 mm, with a 9 to 36 V DC wide-range input on a 4-pin vertical connector by default.

Every EHL173 shares the same layout. Two 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM sockets take up to 32 GB in dual channel at up to 3200 MHz, with in-band ECC support on embedded and industrial SKUs. Intel UHD Graphics decodes H.264, H.265 and VP9 in hardware and drives three independent displays from two rear outputs and an internal eDP/LVDS connector. The rear edge carries two 2.5GbE ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a line-out. Internal headers add four USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232 ports, 8-bit digital I/O and SMBus. Expansion covers a PCIe x4 slot (x1 signal by default), an M.2 B key with a Nano SIM socket, an M.2 2230 E key and two SATA 3.0 ports, one shared with the M.2 B key.

The builds differ by processor, display outputs and temperature grade. Rated -40 to 85 °C with 2.5GbE on Intel I225IT controllers, the EHL173-CT-6425E runs the quad-core Intel Atom x6425E at 2.0 GHz and 12 W with DP++ and HDMI 2.0, the EHL173-CT-6413E the quad-core Atom x6413E at 1.5 GHz and 9 W with DP++ and HDMI 2.0, and the EHL173-CT-6211E the dual-core Atom x6211E at 1.3 GHz and 6 W with two DP++ outputs. The EHL173-CT-6413 runs the quad-core Celeron J6413 at 1.8 GHz and 10 W; in DFI’s ordering table the J6413 build pairs VGA and HDMI 2.0 with Intel I225LM controllers and a -5 to 65 °C rating.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC. Every EHL173 is fanless with a 32 mm heatsink in the box, and storage temperature is -40 to 85 °C at 5 to 90% humidity. fTPM is standard with a discrete TPM as an option, and a watchdog timer is programmable from 1 to 255 seconds. The boards boot in UEFI mode only and support Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux. They carry CE, FCC and UKCA marks. The series suits fanless control, HMI and display designs that take power straight from a machine or vehicle DC supply, where the -40 to 85 °C builds cover enclosures that see frost and heat.
