DFI HPT253 AMD Ryzen 8000 4" x86 SBCs with Triple LAN and 9 to 36 V DC Input

Compact edge equipment in a control cabinet often needs more processing than a small board usually offers, without giving up serial ports, cellular and a wide DC input. The DFI HPT253 series puts AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 processors (Hawk Point) on a 165 x 115 mm EPIC-size board with triple LAN, four COM ports and a 9 to 36 V DC input, cooled by an active fan.

Two DDR5 SO-DIMM sockets take up to 96 GB at 5600 MHz, and integrated Radeon graphics with RDNA3 cores drive HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 outputs at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, plus a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode. DFI lists quad display support, with an internal dual-channel 24-bit LVDS connector as the fourth output. A TPM 2.0 is fitted on every board.

Two builds cover the range. HPT253-BCN-8845HS carries the eight-core Ryzen 7 8845HS at 45 W with Radeon 780M graphics, for vision, analytics and several workloads on one board. HPT253-BCN-8640U has the six-core Ryzen 5 8640U at 28 W with Radeon 760M, for gateways, kiosks and control tasks where a lower heat load matters more than peak performance. I/O, power input and temperature rating are the same on both.

Networking is two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226V and one GbE port on Intel I210AT, all on RJ45. Serial is two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 ports on DB9, and 8-bit DIO can be selected by jumper in place of COM4. USB is two USB 3.2 and one USB 2.0 Type-A port, with two USB 2.0 headers inside. An M.2 M-key (2280, PCIe Gen4 x4) takes an NVMe SSD, an M.2 B-key (3052) with a Nano SIM slot takes a 4G or 5G module, and an M.2 E-key (2230) takes Wi-Fi, with one SATA port alongside. Front audio, power and reset buttons are on the board edge.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin connector, so the board can run from 12 V or 24 V supplies. The HPT253 series operates from 0 to 60 °C with CE, FCC and RoHS compliance and a 1 to 255 second watchdog, and DFI lists Windows 11 IoT Enterprise and Linux support.
