DFI MTH556-ECN-225U Intel Core Ultra 5 225U (Arrow Lake) 3.5″ Industrial Motherboard with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -20 to 70 °C

Operator panels and machine HMIs built for a long production run often need a current processor generation at launch, a built-in display interface and serial ports for the machine side. The MTH556-ECN-225U covers that as the Arrow Lake Core Ultra 5 build of the DFI MTH556 series: a 3.5″ industrial motherboard, 146 x 102 mm, rated for wide temperature operation from -20 to 70 °C.

The Intel Core Ultra 5 225U is a Core Ultra Series 2 (Arrow Lake) processor with 12 cores and a 15 W TDP, running from 1.5 GHz up to 4.8 GHz. Integrated Intel graphics decodes and encodes AV1, HEVC, VP9 and AVC in hardware, which suits HMI graphics, video and camera previews. Two DDR5 SO-DIMM sockets take up to 96 GB at 5600 MHz.

An internal dual-channel 24-bit LVDS connector drives a built-in panel at up to 1920 x 1200, and HDMI plus USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode add two external screens. Two RS-232/422/485 ports, two RS-232 ports and 8-bit DIO connect to the machine side, with two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226LM and I226V controllers, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and two internal USB 2.0 ports. M.2 sockets take a PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, a 4G or 5G modem with nano SIM for remote service access, and Wi-Fi.

Input is 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin connector, and the board operates from -20 to 70 °C with DFI’s active cooler. It runs Windows 11 and 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit or Linux, with TPM 2.0, a programmable watchdog and CE, FCC, UKCA, KC and RoHS compliance. The MTH556-ECN-255U moves up to Core Ultra 7 at up to 5.2 GHz on the same generation, and the MTH556-BCN-135H offers 14 cores and Arc graphics at 28 W where the panel stays indoors.
