DFI PTH171-IE-U5336HRE Intel Core Ultra 5 336HRE Mini-ITX Embedded Motherboard with Triple 2.5GbE and -20 to 70 °C

An edge gateway on a production site usually sits between three networks: the machines, the plant IT and a link out to the cloud or a head office. The PTH171-IE-U5336HRE is the Core Ultra 5 build in the DFI PTH171 series with the -IE- feature set, and it suits that gateway or an operator HMI in a cabinet without heating.

It carries the Intel Core Ultra 5 336HRE (Panther Lake) with Intel vPro and Arc Xe3 graphics, which leaves room for protocol conversion, local logging and a light inference step on the same board. Two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots take up to 128 GB in dual channel. HDMI 2.0, DP++ and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode give three 4K outputs at 60 Hz for an HMI, with a fourth through an optional M.2 A-key module.

Three 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226V and I226LM controllers keep OT, IT and uplink traffic on separate ports, and vPro on the I226LM port allows remote management. Four COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232) and 8-bit DIO connect PLCs, meters and stack lights. A PCIe Gen5 x4 slot takes an extra LAN or fieldbus card, an M.2 B-key with Nano SIM takes an LTE or 5G module, and an M.2 M-key takes an NVMe SSD for buffered data.

The PTH171-IE-U5336HRE operates from -20 to 70 °C under an active cooler, runs from 12 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin connector, and carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. If the gateway also runs vision, PTH171-IE-U7366HRE steps up to the Core Ultra 7 366HRE. Where heat matters more than headroom, PTH171-IE-U5335RE uses the 15 W Core Ultra 5 335RE.
