DFI RNO171-CB-V2516 AMD Ryzen Embedded V2516 Mini-ITX Mainboard with Dual GbE and Quad Display

Signage players, self-service kiosks and operator panels rarely need eight cores, but they do benefit from spare threads for the browser, media player and remote management agent running side by side. The RNO171-CB-V2516 is the entry build in the RNO171 series, a six-core 15 W processor on the 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX board.

The AMD Ryzen Embedded V2516 runs six cores and 12 threads at 2.1 GHz with boost to 3.95 GHz and six Radeon Vega compute units. Four DP++ outputs drive independent displays at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, which covers a menu board, a video wall segment or a multi-screen kiosk. Two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM slots take up to 64 GB, sized to the application.

Six COM ports connect printers, card readers and PLCs: an RS-232/422/485 and an RS-232 DB-9 port at the rear and four RS-232 headers inside. Two GbE ports use Realtek RTL8119 controllers, and USB runs to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and six USB 2.0 ports. Expansion covers a PCIe x16 Gen3 slot at x8 signal, an M.2 M-key 2280 socket for NVMe or SATA SSDs and two SATA 3.0 ports.

The RNO171-CB-V2516 takes 12 V DC through a 4-pin connector or DC barrel jack and runs from -5 to 65 °C with an active cooler, a watchdog timer and CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. DFI lists Windows 10 and Linux support, and the watchdog timer can be set from 1 to 255 seconds so an unattended kiosk recovers on its own.
