DFI RNO171-CB-V2718 AMD Ryzen Embedded V2718 (V2000 Series) Industrial Mini-ITX Motherboard with Dual GbE and Quad Display

Edge gateways and vision systems in compact cabinets often need many threads but have little room to remove heat. The RNO171-CB-V2718 addresses that with eight cores in a 15 W TDP, the most cores per watt in the RNO171 series, on the same 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX board as its 45 W siblings.

The AMD Ryzen Embedded V2718 runs eight cores and 16 threads from a 1.7 GHz base, boosting to 4.15 GHz, with seven Radeon Vega compute units. Parallel work such as several camera streams or containers spreads across the cores, while bursty tasks use the boost clock. Two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM slots take up to 64 GB, and four DP++ outputs drive independent displays at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz.

The rear panel has two GbE ports on Realtek RTL8119 controllers, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, RS-232/422/485 and RS-232 DB-9 ports and audio. Internal headers add four RS-232 ports and four USB 2.0. For expansion there is a PCIe x16 Gen3 slot at x8 signal, an M.2 M-key 2280 socket for PCIe x4 Gen3 NVMe or SATA SSDs and two SATA 3.0 ports. Audio runs through a Realtek ALC888S codec with rear mic-in, line-in and line-out.

Power is 12 V DC on a 4-pin connector or DC barrel jack, and the RNO171-CB-V2718 runs from -5 to 65 °C with an active cooler, a watchdog timer and CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. Where sustained all-core clocks matter and the enclosure can cool 45 W, the RNO171-CB-V2748 is the better fit; the RNO171-CB-V2516 is the six-core 15 W option.
