DFI TGU171-IE-1185GRE Intel Core i7-1185GRE Mini-ITX Mainboard with Triple LAN and Wide Temperature

An inspection cell that runs several cameras, a vision model and a local operator screen needs strong single-thread speed and a capable GPU on one board. The TGU171-IE-1185GRE is the Core i7 build in the DFI TGU171 series of industrial Mini-ITX mainboards, and it is the one to choose when that workload sits in a cabinet without heating or cooling.

Its Intel Core i7-1185GRE (11th Gen, Tiger Lake) has four cores at 1.8 GHz, bursting to 4.4 GHz, with 12 MB cache, a 15 to 28 W TDP and Intel vPro for remote management. Two DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMMs take up to 64 GB with in-band ECC support. Intel Iris Xe Graphics drives rear HDMI, DP++ and USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode at up to 3840 x 2160, plus internal eDP and dual-channel LVDS, four displays at once, and decodes H.265, VP9 and AV1 in hardware.

For networking, two GbE ports on Intel I211AT or I210IT controllers and one 2.5GbE port on an Intel I225LM or I225IT controller separate the camera network from the plant uplink. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, four internal USB 2.0 headers, four COM ports and 8-bit DIO cover field devices. An M.2 M-key runs NVMe at PCIe Gen4 x4, the B-key takes a 4G or 5G module with its Nano-SIM socket, the E-key takes CNVi Wi-Fi, and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot and two SATA ports with RAID 0/1 add a frame grabber or mirrored drives.

The TGU171-IE-1185GRE runs from 12 V DC on a barrel jack or 4-pin connector and operates from -20 to 70 °C, a wide temperature range, with its active cooler, with CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. DFI quotes an MTBF of 414,291 hours at 25 °C. The TGU171-IE-1145GRE keeps four cores and the same range at up to 4.1 GHz, and TGU171-IB-1115G4E suits indoor control at -5 to 65 °C.
