DFI TGU173 Intel 11th Gen Core Tiger Lake Mini-ITX SBCs with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Wide Temperature Options

Many control panels and machines run from a 24 V DC rail, and vehicle-side equipment sees a supply that swings with the battery. The DFI TGU173 series takes 11th Gen Intel Core (Tiger Lake) processors onto a 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX board with a 9 to 36 V DC input, so the board runs from those supplies directly, without a separate DC-DC converter in the enclosure. Triple LAN and five display outputs complete a board that fits standard Mini-ITX mounting.

Every TGU173 board takes two DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMMs, up to 64 GB, and DFI lists in-band ECC support. The Core i7 and i5 builds use Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Intel vPro, and the Core i3 and Celeron builds use Intel UHD Graphics. Rear HDMI, DP++ and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode each run at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz, with internal eDP at 4K and dual-channel LVDS at 1920 x 1200: five outputs, four active at once. Hardware decode includes H.265, VP9 and AV1.

The range has four builds. TGU173-IE-1185GRE carries the quad-core Core i7-1185GRE at up to 4.4 GHz with 12 MB cache, and TGU173-IE-1145GRE the quad-core Core i5-1145GRE at up to 4.1 GHz with 8 MB cache. Both run at 15 to 28 W and operate from -20 to 70 °C. TGU173-IB-1115G4E uses the dual-core Core i3-1115G4E and TGU173-IB-6305E the dual-core Celeron 6305E at 15 W, for kiosks, signage and simpler control from -5 to 65 °C.

Across the series, two GbE ports on Intel I211AT or I210IT controllers and one 2.5GbE port on an Intel I225LM or I225IT controller keep camera, plant and uplink networks apart. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and four internal USB 2.0 headers sit beside four COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 with power) and 8-bit DIO. An M.2 M-key runs NVMe at PCIe Gen4 x4, an M.2 B-key takes a 4G or 5G module with its Nano-SIM socket or an SSD, an M.2 E-key (2230) takes an Intel CNVi Wi-Fi module, and two SATA 3.0 ports with RAID 0/1 and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot add drives or a capture card.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel jack or a 4-pin connector. The boards ship with an active cooler as standard, with a fanless heatsink available on request for 15 W builds, and carry CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance, a firmware TPM with a discrete TPM as an option, and a watchdog programmable from 1 to 255 seconds. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, Windows 11 and Linux. Where the enclosure already has a regulated 12 V supply, the TGU171 series is the same layout with a 12 V DC input.
