DFI WL173-NE-8665UE Intel Core i7-8665UE Mini-ITX SBC with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Wide Temperature

Mobile inspection systems, agricultural and mining machinery and specialist vehicles need a quad-core Intel Core processor but only have a DC supply, which may be 12 V on one model and 24 V on the next. The WL173-NE-8665UE is the Core i7 build in the DFI WL173 series of Mini-ITX SBCs, taking 9 to 36 V DC and rated from -20 to 70 °C.

Its Intel Core i7-8665UE (Whiskey Lake) has four cores at 1.7 GHz, bursting to 4.4 GHz, with 8 MB of cache in a 15 W TDP, the highest clocks in the series. Two DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 32 GB. Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives two rear DP++ outputs at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and a dual-channel LVDS header as three independent displays, which covers a driver panel plus an external screen.

The Intel I219LM GbE port supports vPro and AMT, so boards spread across a fleet can be managed out of band, and an Intel I210AT provides the second GbE port. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports at 10 Gbps take USB cameras and drives. An M.2 M-key with PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD, two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1 and 5, an M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot adds a capture or fieldbus card. Two COM ports, four internal USB 2.0 headers and 8-bit DIO complete the I/O.

The WL173-NE-8665UE runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -20 to 70 °C, with a discrete TPM 2.0 and a watchdog programmable from 1 to 255 seconds. WL173-NE-8365UE keeps vPro and the same rating with the Core i5-8365UE, and WL173-NB-8145UE offers a dual-core Core i3 for -5 to 65 °C installations.
