Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 : JMM-7305-ISO-UPS 40W 5V PC104 Isolated Power Supply with UPS and MIL-STD-461/704/1275

Many rugged PC/104 stacks still run their processor boards from 5 V, and a vehicle supply for them has to clean up a noisy bus as well as hold the stack up when the bus drops out. The JMM-7305-ISO-UPS is the full-feature 5 V model in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 series, a PC/104 UPS power supply with isolation, MIL-STD filtering and UPS control on one board.

It delivers 5 V at 40 W from a 9 to 36 V DC input, isolated from input to output at 500 V. Diamond specifies EMI compatibility to MIL-STD-461C/D/E/F and DO-160 requirements, input immunity per MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A/B and DO-160, transient protection against 100 V for 50 ms and 600 V spikes for 20 µs, brownout protection down to 6 V for one second, and reverse polarity protection. The family is designed to meet MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration specifications, and compliance of the finished system depends on the full installation.

Backup energy comes from a supercapacitor pack on the UPS input, mounted directly under the supply or connected by cable. Diamond designed its SEP-7000 supercapacitor packs, storing up to 3300 J, for this input, though its ordering table now lists those packs as end of life, so confirm the energy store when you specify. Diamond’s datasheet quotes about 300 seconds of hold-up at 10 W with its 3300 J pack, enough for an orderly shutdown or a short outage on a low-power SBC. A microcontroller reports charge and supply status on LEDs and over USB to the host.

The JMM-7305-ISO-UPS operates from -40 to 85 °C on an integrated heat spreader mounting plate. The JMM-7312-ISO-UPS is the 12 V equivalent, and the JMM-7305-UPS gives 25 W at 5 V with the same filtering and UPS but no isolation. We supply and specify each model as Diamond builds it.
