Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 : JMM-7305-UPS 25W 5V PC104 Rugged Power Supply with MIL-STD-461/704/1275 and UPS

A low-power PC/104 stack in a vehicle needs the same protection from a dirty DC bus as a larger system, without paying for isolation it does not use. The JMM-7305-UPS is the full-feature 5 V model without isolation in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 series, a PC/104 UPS power supply with MIL-STD filtering and UPS control on one board.

It delivers 5 V at 25 W from a 9 to 36 V DC input. Diamond specifies EMI compatibility to MIL-STD-461C/D/E/F and DO-160 requirements, input immunity per MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A/B and DO-160, transient protection against 100 V for 50 ms and 600 V spikes for 20 µs, brownout protection down to 6 V for one second, and reverse polarity protection. The family is designed to meet MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration specifications, and compliance of the finished system depends on the full installation.

A supercapacitor energy pack on the UPS input holds the stack up when the bus drops, mounted under the supply or connected by cable. Diamond designed its SEP-7000 supercapacitor packs, storing up to 3300 J, for this input, though its ordering table now lists those packs as end of life, so confirm the energy store when you specify. Diamond’s datasheet quotes about 300 seconds of hold-up at 10 W with its 3300 J pack. The on-board microcontroller reports charge and supply status on LEDs and over USB to the host CPU.

The JMM-7305-UPS operates from -40 to 85 °C on an integrated heat spreader mounting plate. The JMM-7305-ISO-UPS adds 500 V isolation and raises the 5 V output to 40 W, and the JMM-7005-UPS is the basic 5 V model with UPS but without the MIL-STD filter stages.
