Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 : JMM-7005-UPS 25W 5V PC104 Industrial Power Supply with UPS

A low-power 5 V PC/104 stack in an industrial machine rarely needs military filtering, but it still benefits from a supply that can carry it through a dropout. The JMM-7005-UPS is the basic 5 V model in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 series, a PC/104 UPS power supply with backup energy control in a simpler build.

It delivers 5 V at 25 W from a 9 to 36 V DC input. Diamond positions the basic JMM-7000 models for commercial and industrial applications where backup power is required, so they leave out the MIL-STD-461 EMI filter and the MIL-STD-704/1275 input stage fitted to the full-feature JMM-7300 models. The JMM-7000 family is designed to meet MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration specifications, which suits machine-mounted and mobile equipment.

Backup energy comes from a supercapacitor pack on the UPS input, mounted directly under the supply or connected by cable. Diamond designed its SEP-7000 supercapacitor packs, storing up to 3300 J, for this input, though its ordering table now lists those packs as end of life, so confirm the energy store when you specify. Diamond’s datasheet quotes about 300 seconds of hold-up at 10 W with its 3300 J pack. The microcontroller reports charge and supply status on LEDs and over USB, so the host can act before the backup is spent.

The JMM-7005-UPS operates from -40 to 85 °C on an integrated heat spreader mounting plate. The JMM-7305-UPS is the full-feature 5 V model with MIL-STD filtering, and the JMM-7012-UPS is the basic 12 V model at 40 W. We supply and specify each model as Diamond builds it.
