Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000-200 12 Port Gigabit Managed Rugged Switch With Layer 3 Software, MIL-Grade Power Supply and High-Profile Case

The SabreNet-12000-200 is the MIL-grade power build in the Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000 series, a sealed 12-port gigabit rugged Ethernet switch with Layer 3 software and an isolated supply compliant with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275. It suits vehicle and aircraft power buses.

  • 12 Gigabit Copper Ports: Twelve 10/100/1000Base-T ports sit on two MIL-DTL-38999 connectors in groups of four and eight, so each cable run stays sealed.
  • Layer 3 Software: Diamond’s embedded IStaX routing and switching software lets the switch route between network segments as well as switch traffic within them.
  • Isolated MIL-Grade Supply: A power supply based on Diamond’s JMM-7500 gives MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275 compliance with 500 V input-to-output isolation.
  • Two Management Paths: A web interface on any Ethernet port and a local RS-232 port on the four-port connector give both in-band and out-of-band access.

SabreNet-12000-200 Overview

Vehicle and aircraft power buses carry surges, spikes and dropouts that a filtered supply alone may not ride through, so some programmes call for full isolation between the power input and the electronics. The SabreNet-12000-200 is the MIL-grade power build in the Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000 series: a complete rugged Ethernet switch that Diamond builds around its EPS-12000 board-level switch, with an isolated power supply and no PTP timing.

It carries 12 10/100/1000Base-T copper Ethernet ports, arranged in groups of four and eight on two MIL-DTL-38999 connectors, so every link enters the case through a sealed circular connector rather than an RJ-45 socket. Diamond’s embedded IStaX Layer 3 routing and switching software runs on the switch, and you manage it through a web interface on any of the ports or through a local RS-232 port on the four-port connector. Diamond can also customise the software branding and the connector arrangement.

The Layer 3 software routes between subnets as well as switching within them, which helps where a network is split into segments for sensors, mission computers and communications. Inside, Diamond’s EPS-12000 pairs an EPSM-10GX switch module with a carrier board that holds the magnetics and the power circuits. The SabreNet-12000-220 adds IEEE-1588 PTP to this build, and the SabreNet-12000-100 uses a MIL-STD-461 filter in a shorter case. The power supply is based on Diamond’s JMM-7500 and provides compliance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275, with 500 V isolation between input and output. This build uses the taller of the two enclosures. The case has an IP67 design and the switch operates from -40 to +85 °C. Diamond publishes a shock and vibration test report for the SabreNet-12000, and a lab bench-grade external cable kit lets you run it on the bench.
