Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000-220 12 Port Gigabit Managed Rugged Switch With Layer 3 Software, MIL-Grade Power Supply, IEEE-1588 PTP and High-Profile Case

A vehicle network that fuses sensor data needs every device on one clock, and it has to keep that clock through the surges and dropouts of a military power bus. The SabreNet-12000-220 is the build in the Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000 series that covers both: a complete rugged Ethernet switch that Diamond builds around its EPS-12000 board-level switch, with IEEE-1588 PTP support and an isolated MIL-grade power supply.

It carries 12 10/100/1000Base-T copper Ethernet ports, arranged in groups of four and eight on two MIL-DTL-38999 connectors, so every link enters the case through a sealed circular connector rather than an RJ-45 socket. Diamond’s embedded IStaX Layer 3 routing and switching software runs on the switch, and you manage it through a web interface on any of the ports or through a local RS-232 port on the four-port connector. Diamond can also customise the software branding and the connector arrangement.

IEEE-1588 PTP support lets the switch take part in network time distribution, and Diamond’s block diagram shows a 1PPS input for a GPS time source on the four-port connector. The Layer 3 software also routes between subnets for segmented networks. The SabreNet-12000-200 is the same build without PTP, and the SabreNet-12000-120 keeps PTP with a MIL-STD-461 filter in a shorter case. The power supply is based on Diamond’s JMM-7500 and provides compliance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275, with 500 V isolation between input and output. This build uses the taller of the two enclosures. The case has an IP67 design and the switch operates from -40 to +85 °C. Inside, an EPSM-10GX switch module sits on a carrier board. Diamond publishes a shock and vibration test report, and a lab bench-grade external cable kit is available.
