The SabreNet-12000-120 is the PTP build in the low-profile half of the Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000 series, a sealed 12-port gigabit rugged Ethernet switch with Layer 3 software, IEEE-1588 support, a MIL-STD-461 filter and 7 to 34 V DC input. It suits networks that must share precise time.

  • 12 Gigabit Copper Ports: Twelve 10/100/1000Base-T ports sit on two MIL-DTL-38999 connectors in groups of four and eight, so each cable run stays sealed.
  • IEEE-1588 PTP Support: Precision Time Protocol support, with a 1PPS signal brought out on the four-port connector, lets connected devices share one accurate time base.

SabreNet-12000-120 Overview

When sensors, cameras and recorders on a vehicle or mast have to timestamp data against one clock, the switch between them needs to carry time as well as packets. The SabreNet-12000-120 is the timing build of the low-profile models in the Diamond Systems SabreNet-12000 series: a complete rugged Ethernet switch that Diamond builds around its EPS-12000 board-level switch, adding IEEE-1588 PTP support to a MIL-STD-461 filtered supply.

It carries 12 10/100/1000Base-T copper Ethernet ports, arranged in groups of four and eight on two MIL-DTL-38999 connectors, so every link enters the case through a sealed circular connector rather than an RJ-45 socket. Diamond’s embedded IStaX Layer 3 routing and switching software runs on the switch, and you manage it through a web interface on any of the ports or through a local RS-232 port on the four-port connector. Diamond can also customise the software branding and the connector arrangement.

IEEE-1588 PTP support lets the switch take part in network time distribution, and Diamond’s block diagram shows a 1PPS input for a GPS time source on the four-port connector. The Layer 3 software also routes between subnets, which helps where sensor, computer and radio traffic run on separate segments. The SabreNet-12000-100 is the same build without PTP, and the SabreNet-12000-220 keeps PTP but moves to an isolated MIL-grade power supply in a taller case. Power enters through an integrated MIL-STD-461 filter module that accepts 7 to 34 V DC, and this is the short enclosure of the two Diamond offers. The case has an IP67 design and the switch operates from -40 to +85 °C. Inside, an EPSM-10GX switch module sits on a carrier board. Diamond publishes a shock and vibration test report for the SabreNet-12000, and a lab bench-grade external cable kit lets you run the switch on the bench.
